I didn't take pictures of everything I've eaten, but I did take quite a few (all with my iPhone, which explains the quality).
Fresh rolls - Bankok54
There are a number of yummy restaurants within walking distance of the apartment and one of my favorites is Bankok 54. They have a great deal on appetizers during happy hour and when I met my best friend M a few weeks ago, I ended up eating 5 appetizers by myself. (Do I get a merit badge for that?)
Last Saturday, D and I ran a few errands in the morning, then headed over to Shirlington for a pre-birthday lunch. He was up for Mexican, so we strolled over to Guapo's and dined al fresco. It was a decent meal, but the guacamole was definitely the best I've had in a while. After lunch, D surprised me with a Susie's a Pink Lady cake from Cake Love. Raspberry buttercream with vanilla butter cake and fresh raspberries -- I almost died.
I would be lying if I didn't tell you I ate the entire thing in about five days with little assistance, and when I was enjoying my last piece a huge wave of depression came over me. D, if you're reading this, my parents anniversary, mother's birthday, sister's birthday, grandmother's birthday, best friend's birthday, and other grandmother's birthday are coming up and I think we need a cake to celebrate each of them.
Earlier last week, I had the privilege to have one of my greatest friends visit, who I haven't seen in about four years. Don't worry, I let Brittney have some of my cake. We tried this new Mexican restaurant around the corner from my building and let me tell you, there wasn't another soul in the place, but the fish tacos are the best I've had this side of the Mississippi.

Fish tacos - The Salsa Room
To wrap this up, last night D and I had burgers, potato wedges and zucchini wedges with parmesan. It was nice to stay in and eat at home, since I've been eating out quite a bit lately.
I hope everyone is enjoying their three day weekend. Take a couple of minutes to thank past, present and future men and women who have served our country. Happy Memorial Day, friends.
